at some point, i think we promised everyone that we would do this more often..

then we tried to set up an audio blog (which we thought would be particularly handy and tasteful at 3am when we were away from a computer but brimming with fan-friendly thoughts), but it didn’t work too well.. now i feel like i have so much to catch up on (including stories and sleep).

in extremely short form:

-i spent most of the week sleeping in jasper’s closet (it is a pretty big closet) and detesting his roommate’s cat

-chicago was a nice little 12-hour experience.. the room was tiny and full and we met a few street teamers and the half-off food was delicious.

-the madison show kicked some major ass. thanks to the profits, and also the kids who sang along to all of our songs (we videotaped it all and i showed my mom and she was proud)….

-flying to san jose through phoenix from milwaukee when you wake up in madison is a crappy idea.. it also takes along time.

-the “return to high school” special was not nearly as awful and awkward as i expected.. in fact, it was enjoyable. plus i got to be a guest star in my favorite teacher’s english class.

hello/thanks to friends made along the way: dave and eric (and the cat, begrudgingly), drummer man-child gabe, jenny, stacey, those guys who i never shared a beer with, troy, seq c, rich, mike and jp, joe, kelly, mark, and joanne.

goodnight

Well, as of 8:00 this morning, The Bull Moose After Party has officially hit the streets. We sent it out with a light jacket and some sandwiches, and it is hopefully fighting crime as we speak.

The fall tour is also officially underway, and you can chart our individual descents into jet-lagged depravity by clicking on the personal news links at the top of this page. We’ve been really bad about keeping them updated in the past, and this time will probably be no different, but we’re at that point in the endless cycle where we honestly think we can change, so humor us and click through from time to time.

Finally, we’re still adding shows to our tour page, so make sure to check that out, especially if you live on the west coast, as we’ve got a long drive up the five and will probably be stopping a few times along the way to stretch our legs and play a show or two.

Cheers,

The Band

Sometimes southern CA wants to be western NY

Well, the fall tour has gotten off to a great little start, just off some of the Empire State’s finer blue highways. (We were, by one account, within an hour’s drive of “America’s asshole” during most our stay.) But upstate New York has been a really nice place to get back into the swing of full-time touring, sort of like a heated birthing pool for the bastard honor student of our new record, and we’re excited to finally have it out of our bellies and hanging out with all you crazy midwives.

Past experience has taught me that it’s way harder than it looks to keep this thing updated, especially when we’re playing in a different town every night, so I’ve set up one of those Mariah Carey audioblog things where I can phone in a message from the road, and within a day or two it will magically turn into a downloadable MP3 that I’ll instantly want to take back.

So stay tuned for that. There should also be some new radio interviews and show recordings surfacing in the coming weeks.

Cheers,

Dave
